2019 Cannes and Monaco Shows / What I saw.

After almost two weeks traveling around the French Riviera, I'm back at my office in Miami, ready to share with you what I saw, what’s new and news are coming from our for Sunseeker shipyard in Poole, UK.

It was my first visit to both the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Monaco Boat Show, and they certainly lived up to my expectations. Both are relatively small shows compared to what we have here in Florida but packed with the world’s top yacht manufacturers and the best accessory vendors in the industry. The Monaco show stands out as being the preferred show for Super Yachts, with yachts up to 364ft (TIS 111mt – 2019 LÜRSSEN).

For years Cannes has been the preferred stage to showcase new products and models, and our Sunseeker French Division had something impressive to show this year: The New High Performance Day Boat – the Hawk 38. Sunseeker has returned to its performance roots to deliver an exciting and dynamic stepped hull in conjunction with the Fabio Buzzi Design, winner of 43 World Speed Records and 55 World Championships! (Sadly Mr. Fabio Buzzi passed away on September 18th at age 76, while competing in the Monte Carlo to Venice power boat race, doing what he loves). This new high performance model will be capable of a leisurely 70mph (62kts) “out of the box” with standard twin Mercury 400R outboards, mated to Mercury Racing Digital Zero Effort throttles. The hull has been optimized to take advantage of the latest outboard engine technology, giving not only performance benefits but also low cost maintenance for clients.

The New Predator 60 EVO did not make the Cannes or Monaco Lineup but had a great debut at the South Hampton International Boat Show in England. The Predator 60 EVO is the first model of Sunseeker’s major new product development plan, with innovative stand out features and a truly sophisticated interior design. This new design certainly doesn’t sacrifice performance for style. With speeds of up to 32 knots, it cuts a sharp, impressive figure on the open water, with exemplary sea-keeping and unmatched agility. Truly a yacht designed perfectly for cruising in luxury.

Speaking of our new product development plan, Sunseeker’s recently appointed CEO, Andrea Frabetti, confirmed during the Cannes Yachting Festival press conference, that the company has committed £50m for new product development between 2019 and 2024. This makes our current model range jump from 11 to 20 total models by 2021. Eight new models will be launched over the next 12 months and another six will be ready by 2021. You can see the Press Conference article here: https://www.sunseekerlp.com/post/sunseeker-secures-shareholder-funding-for-next-five-years

With so many new Sunseeker models waiting to be revealed in the next two years, the Cannes and Monaco show will become an exciting window into what Sunseeker can offer you. We are in the early stages of planning one of our Sunseeker Rendezvous there, so my clients can experience both the Cannes and Monaco show with an excursion to the gorgeous town of Saint Tropez. So many good things to come! Stay tuned…
